Dante's Purgatory HD — RTP, volatility and max win

Dante's Purgatory HD from Play Labs follows Dante's journey through hell, purgatory and heaven, with snakes, the forbidden apple, a tree, ghosts and an old book telling a story of sin and redemption. The reels are rendered in three dimensions, and alongside free spins and a separate bonus game a progressive jackpot keeps growing in the background.

The symbols of Dante's Purgatory HD borrow from the Divine Comedy: the snake and apple stand for the fall, ghosts for lost souls, and the book for Dante's tale itself. Play Labs built the game in three-dimensional HD graphics. 5×3 is the reel format, with 25 paylines for the wins. A spin can cost as little as €0.01 for testing or as much as €50 for high bets. Dante's Purgatory HD was released on January 15, 2014, which makes it one of the older titles in the catalogue.

Because Dante's Purgatory HD keeps medium volatility despite the jackpot, the page on volatility of inferno slots shows which hell-themed games swing much harder.

The reel set of five by three carries 25 paylines. Matching symbols pay once they sit next to one another on one of these lines, counting from the left. Wilds and the extra substitution symbols fill gaps in a line, while scatters count wherever they land. The number of lines is fixed, so you only choose the stake, not how many lines are active.

Two kinds of substitutes work together during normal play: the wild and dedicated substitution symbols that stand in for missing icons on a line. Bonus icons can also drop in at random during a spin, adding extra hits or features without a fixed trigger.

Scatters and a free spins round are part of the mix, and a separate bonus game takes you off the reels into its own Dante-themed scene. The progressive jackpot grows with players' stakes and pays out in addition to regular wins.

Since Dante's Purgatory HD runs a progressive jackpot alongside its free spins and bonus game, it is worth comparing with other inferno slots with jackpots.

Because Dante's Purgatory HD adds its own free spins round to the jackpot and bonus game, the inferno slots with free spins are the natural next comparison.

RTP 95.16%, lower than 74% of the 400 Inferno slots. Background: how RTP works on a slot. Volatility Medium, like 54 of the 180 slots in the Hell & devil theme. Background: what slot volatility means. Max win 3,000× (€150,000 at the highest stake). Background: what max win means on a slot.

On return, Dante's Purgatory HD sits in the lower middle of the range at 95.16%. Its 3,000× ceiling is higher than around 37% of the hell catalogue; volatility is medium, and a progressive jackpot adds to the lines, free spins and the bonus game.
