Glossary

Every term in the glossary appears as a field or feature on the data sheets of the inferno slots. Each entry says briefly what the value measures and what it does not predict. All values come from provider game data; if a value is missing there, the field on the sheet stays empty.

RTP & RTP levels

RTP is the theoretical share of stakes a slot pays back, calculated over a very large number of spins. As a reference point we use 96 %. Studios ship some slots in several RTP tiers, typically between 95 % and 97 %, and the casino decides which tier runs. The figure does not describe a single session, guarantees no win and does not change the outcome of any spin. The game's info menu shows which version you are playing.

Max win

Max win is the highest payout the game rules allow, expressed as a multiple of the stake. As a reference point we use 10,000×. It is a ceiling, not an expectation: it says nothing about how often, or how closely, a game gets there in practice. Read together with volatility, it shows how far the spikes can reach.

Volatility

Volatility shows how strongly payouts swing. With high volatility, long stretches without a win alternate with bigger spikes; with low volatility, smaller wins land more regularly. The data sheets show one of the levels low, low-medium, medium, medium-high, high or adjustable. Volatility does not change RTP; it only shapes how payouts are spread across spins.

Hit frequency

Hit frequency is the share of spins that pay anything at all. Providers rarely publish it, so the field on the data sheet is often empty. A high hit frequency says nothing about win size: one slot can pay small amounts often, another larger amounts less often.

Ways to win & grid

The grid is the set of reels and rows of a slot; ways or lines are how combinations count. With fixed paylines only symbols on a line count; with ways, matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left are enough, whatever the row. In Megaways slots the number of ways changes with every spin. The number of ways or lines says nothing about RTP.

Bonus buy

Bonus buy starts the bonus round straight away for a fixed price, expressed as a multiple of the stake. Some studios give the bought round its own RTP, which can differ from the base game. A bought round has no guaranteed outcome and can return less than it cost.

Bonus bet

Bonus bet is a raised stake that improves the chance of certain triggers or activates extra symbols. The data sheets list the option when the provider states it. The higher stake changes the starting conditions, not the rules of the feature, and does not guarantee an earlier bonus.

Wild

A wild substitutes for other symbols and so helps complete winning combinations; as a rule it does not replace scatters or bonus symbols. Wilds come in different forms: sticky, walking, expanding or with a multiplier of their own. Which form a slot uses is listed among its features on the data sheet.

Scatter

A scatter pays or triggers wherever it lands on the grid; it does not need to sit on a line. Usually three or more scatters start the free spins. In book of slots a single symbol plays the role of wild and scatter at once. Scatter wins are already included in the slot's RTP.
